Summary: The main goal of a Materials Team Leader is to train and validate employees. The Materials Team Leader will operate on his/her assigned station to produce/support production of quality parts.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Lead training of all new hires and support ongoing training for team members.
  • Determine priority/sequence of parts based on production/shipping schedule.
  • Prints and processes all BOL shipping documents for delivery.
  • Ensure team members are completing standard work.
  • Directs crew on completion of daily shipping goals.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Aid in training and maintaining 6s of production area.
  • Communicate cross-functionally with Production, Warehouse and Shipping departments to ensure alignment of our customer driven strategy and direction.
  • Ensure team members are performing proper start-up processes by checking for completion of daily documentation.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained by watching for product defects. Escalate when necessary.
  • Administer and lead 8D problem solving process.
  • Follow standardized work list process.
  • Continuously strive to drive, improve, and monitor QAP companywide KPI's: safety (6s), people, quality, cost of production, delivery/Inventory, continuous improvement, finance/cash, and commercial.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance at QAP facility.
  • Any other job assigned.

Language/Reasoning Ability/Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, count in simple units of measurement and or whole numbers. Ability to read, write and speak basic English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and write simple lists. Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with interpersonal conflict.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

May be asked to have a Forklift License to facilitate production. Ability to be certified as a crane operator, forklift and power lock out procedures mastered. OSHA training strongly preferred.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.


Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving forklifts and pallets. The employee is occasionally exposed to hot or cold conditions. The noise level in the work environment is high and requires the use of hearing protections. We also require steel toed shoes and protective eyewear at all times in the plant.
